Crashes and freezes (Android)

So my game has been crashing and freezing a lot these past few days, which normally hasn’t been much of an issue. Given the timing it seems to have started around the same time as a recent Android version update a few days ago, so I’m just wondering if anyone else who plays on Android has been having similar issues?

like i can only play for so long each time i boot up the game before it starts lagging and freezing on me

then i have to close out of it to fix the issue, before it starts up again :catcry:

Like I would get the occasional lag spike or crash when playing (probably just because my device is getting older) but nothing as frequently as has been these past few days. Which is why it caught my attention compared to usual.

I would really love a solution to this issue now that I know its not just my phone acting up

Only now acting up? My tablet has been crashing so hard ever since the appends released. Hoping that the big unity whatever update planned for November will let me use it again. There was another thread talking about crashes recently. There’s a system app called webview. Forcing an update to that made it work better on my newer phone with modern Android, but wouldn’t help my tablet still in android 9 land as webview works differently on the older Android from what I read. Ironically my even old phone on Android 4 is working better than the tablet (but it’s slow as molasses and can got from 100%->15% in an hour or less of fgo)

That particular performance issue is a memory leak and is unlikely to be solved on the server side unless literally everyone has it. Memory leaks are usually caused by configuration settings or a bad install.

Each iterative update takes more processing power to maintain, my guess is that you may have finally hit the point where the power needed to run the current Android OS and the game at the same time is simply too much. It’s possible this is a compatibility issue, and if it is there should be a patch in a few days, but it could also just be a hardware problem. Try shutting off background processing if you haven’t already and see if that clears up enough power for your phone to manage.

Unity updates are notoriously chunky and clunky. Performance is more likely to get worse not better. Sorry.

What kind of phone are you using?

If it’s a Samsung this fixed a freezing/crashing issue for me:

Yeah, it’s a Galaxy S10. I’ll look into that.

When part one of lostbelt 7 was released in in December I was able to play it with some issues but now that part two is out I can’t even load the damn map without the game crashing :fgo_marthadisappointed:

Yeah, same. I really hope this is something they’re aware of/that can be fixed. I’ve also heard some of the later battles are giving people issues even if their device can handle the map, which is worrying.

Sounds like the early days of Camelot all over again with the sand particle effects

my phone still freezes/crashes if i leave the game open for more than like, 45 minutes to an hour

Mine’s only freezing at times, no crashes. Samsung S20 FE 5G.
