it makes sense for the games to have some darkness, gotta have that shock value to the story to make it interesting

Joking aside, Houses is definitely a darker entry. I won’t say the Darkest, since I haven’t played the Jugdral series or the Tellius series, so I can’t say for certain if it is. I know that the franchise in general definitely falls in to the darker category, especially if what I know of the beforementioned series are true.
