I like the approach to the kit - makes use of the strengths of Riders (good NP gain from getting to spend most of their time punching Casters, and good natural star weight), but locking so much behind waterside battlefields is counter-intuitive when the current option for forcing waterside is Summer Melt, who does not appreciate Buster-flavoured decks or star hogs among her team-mates.

Support for non-gendered allies is a nice touch, though, the small but powerful non-gendered cast was lacking a bit in specialised support presence, especially as Mebd just kept getting better and better as a specialist Male support. Wish it wasn’t a neglible teamwide crit buff on a Rider, though.

I’m glad that wide torso thing only really pops up in her 1st ascension and I dont even know whats going in in that third one

But I love the FA, she’s far and away the star of summer 6 for me

Also the sustained star gather skill looks great too, I like her kit

Restricted to waterside isn’t fun, but she’s a rider so her star weight is good anyway and Tamamovitch will make sure her busters crit.

Happy Caenis got a better kit after how shafted her Lancer self was. Irked her functionality is nuked without waterside as arts crits matter too.

Flavour of their kit is similar to the original iteration.

Lol at servants in 2021 who has a field effect but can’t make it themselves.

I think you mean casters

I hate it. I really do.

Caenis powercreeps Quetz so hard even Ozy is baffled.

Anyway, between star income, star bomb, 3 buff types and high crit buffs Caenis will hit really hard and crit really hard reliably while the Rider class puts her in place to be the team’s main attacker due to high natural absorption.

But people will still complain “But can’t make the field Waterside” or “But no battery tho”.

Because apparently the 20% more attack for 1 turn and the 10 more stars are a real necessity for a servant that already has all the steroids possible and hits closer to the 5 stars than the 4 stars…

I take your point but I also respectfully disagree about her overall power level. The reason having half a kit locked behind the field and not having access to a battery is a problem is because with the release of Vitch, literally any Servant with two Busters is as good at critting as Rider Caenis, or only very slightly worse. She has a year 2 kit on a year 6 Servant, the overall state of the game makes her kit too easy to replace.

I’d also consider her more a side-grade to Quetz, specifically - Quetz goes a lot better on her one massive burst turn, and has a larger starbomb to enable one turn of massive damage, Caenis is more about consistency but with her big critical buff being on NP is gonna cause some consistency trouble. If it was NPing, consistency is all the rage and Quetz would be over, but for crits you need Summer BB and good luck to manage consistent crits, so it sort of balances itself back out (again, because Summer BB/double Vitch makes any Buster haver a similarly powerful crit point).

Power creep is real, but Quetz and Ozy are both year 1 and this is year 6. This degree of powercreep is nothing, considering crits have been out of vogue for a very long time now anyway.

Understandable position to hold.

I still believe it is fair to judge the kit on its own in regards to how it was built and how overtuned it might be in regards to its competitors but in regards to the meta supports a lot of it currently comes down to batteries or their absence in this case.

I kind of see it as the Devs taking personally every criticism OG Caenis’ kit got between the buff OG got a couple months ago and this kit basically overcompensating for all flaws it had.

No Absorption because of class? Make it a Rider and add a chance of getting more!
Making stars for Caenis is hard? Give it both star bomb and regen!
Big steroid is weird to use? Make all skills more straightforward and tack on simpler ones that last 3 turns!
NP up is only 10%? Double it.

Which makes it even weirder since OG only came out last year… Kind of gives the impression they knew of all the flaws considering it takes a while to even approve a summer servant.

buster crit rider that focuses on facecarding that has stargen, colour, atk and crit buff huh. Shame her personality is thrash otherwise could be nice to use.

Also crit buff to male and other servants is interesting. Female servants got double charisma from liz while male servants gets atk and battery from medb already. Other than running her with medb and boosting a male rider for extra damage i dont see a reason for it to be male/female specific buff. Her being a rider makes it so who gets the stars rng too so crit buff will be wasted. For a year 6 servant not having a skill to achieve “near water” status is bad too.

If you receive a damage buff from a field effect yet you make your own field effect, what’s the point?

I agree that the field effect has to come from somewhere though, the more Servants have field effects, the more we need a support that generates them imo.

I will probably roll for Kama on Caenis day, there’s a lot of good in this kit to outweigh any field effect nonsense, especially when the best 2 ST Riders in my Chaldea are both welfares also their NP animation is pretty cool

Again an interesting niche for the charisma-style skill, otherwise more waterside fun that you can’t access elsewhere without particular servants helping out. She also gets bonus points for riding a sea serpent that looks like GigaSeadramon.

That’s all the positives I have, overall this second banner isn’t really my jam since the first one was more wholesome in theme and this second one is more of a blatant fanservice banner, so I’m not a fan of any of the art really.

I’d argue Summer Caenis dunks on Quetz for face cards harder than made out - thanks to Vitch they get to double stack their crit buff turn 2, and the rest turn 3.

Quetz only gets to double stack her buster, her crit is 1 turn. However Quetz has a 30% battery and so with Oberon or mana loading gets to NP one more time than Caenis guaranteed, with a guaranteed 3 shots with any 50% starting charge and mana loading/Oberon.

So nah, I’d say Caenis hits harder but her lack of a battery means she loses out 2 guaranteed NPs with 50% gauge start - and if you’re running a ST Rider for Caster slaying then NP2+Quetz can probably slay the bar, and to top it off it’s very likely she soon gets an NP interlude like Ozy did.

If you superscope Caenis to give her more NPs the gap closes a little relative to Aerial Dive and friends. At least on NP damage, seeing as Caenis keeps their 3t crit on NP from their original version.

TL;DR: it’s not amazing powercreep

I really hope you’re right.

They’re from the same era and they’ve been giving those servants buffs. Unlikely they leave Ozy with more damage.

SSR assassin ST damage largely leveled out despite all the “Kama supreme” memes.

So I guess I’m the only one going:
1st asc - Wow! Summer!
2nd asc - Huh? Summer?
3rd asc - WTF?! Summer?!
Final asc - Naisu~ Summer~
