Midori manual priority

Alright, so with the addition if Midori to the Divine Codes Awakening path, I’ve decided that - because of the overall high value of everything in that tree, that building towards Midori will be my first priority, then Shinon.

The question is: who wants Spendthroft Bow more?

I have two main ideas for a unit that can use it.

  1. Halloween Jakob.

Pretty unilateral in how I’d end up building him, but sitting at a pretty solid 55 DEF/RES while sporting a decent 62 ATK on countering. He can also make great use out of both Spendthrift and Close Foil.
  2. Winter Felix
Alternative builds

Far, far, far more flexible in terms of potential usage and fast enough to reliably use Special Fighter to cancel out the Spendthrift CD reset. Is less likely to use Close Foil, however, as I would likely have him mostly function as an initiator unit. On the other hand, Felix is so flexible that he doesn’t really need the Spendthrift Bow as much as Jakob would. He could just as easilybrun the spare Plegian Bow I have sitting around in my barracks.

So which option should I go with?

  • Jakob needs the bulk more, give him Spendthrift. Felix can use Plegian.
  • Felix is more flexible with newer BST, give him Spendthrift. Jakob can be used to debuff for Plegian.

If you’re using Felix mostly to initiate combat, that makes me inclined to think Plegian is better for him. The stats it gives are very comparable to Spendthrift’s, even without any debuffs, but the solo condition would be a pain for an enemy phase unit, especially since it clashes with Armor March (I guess this depends on where you’re using him tho, since AR probably you don’t have a support unit next to him so it’s not a factor as much). But if he’s going ahead to attack it’s not as much of a problem.

Keep in mind that these builds were made before the Plegian weapons existed. I could very easily swap these builds around to mix and match the skills here to sometging like this.

I run defense Plegian pretty solidly on my Noire.

The main thing I’m thinking is that Jakob needs a counter guarantee, like QR or VF, to get his Special off with Spendthrift; but Felix is reliable enough that he can easily overpower the CD problem from Spendthrift. Jakob, however, could more easily run - for example - Chill ATK/DEF and Plegian bow, or dual Smokes and VF.
That said, Jakob has better defenses and can utilize the extra 7 DEF/RES more effectively than Felix does.

Plegian & Spendthrift are sidegrades to each other, so it just depends on which one fits your build & teammates better :feh_birbpeek:
Spendthrift has a stronger boost at base and lets you stick close to your allies, but it limits your special options to 2 cooldown specials generally if you don’t have any cooldown acceleration.
Plegian has the potential to have a stronger effect with debuff support, and it doesn’t slow down your special. But since you’re using armors, the solo condition might be more troublesome than normal.
Probably comes down to how you use Felix & Jakob. Do you stick them close to their friends, or do you go on the offensive? :feh_maethink:

Jakob is typically used in an Armored March team as he is, Felix isn’t in a set team just yet.

However, the teams aren’t set in stone. I’ve considered moving Jakob to my Astra team with Naga and Reginn, Felix could easily fit in my Anima-D team with Mirabilis, Theasir, and Seiros.

That’s why Jakob is a top contender, he gets up to the mid-50s in DEF/RES with the fixed reductions. However, he would need to run either 2-CD or Vengeful Fighter.

Point for Felix. Like I said, Special Fighter is super easy to use on him and works on both phases, allowing Felix a solid Guard Effect with CD reduction and permanently increased offenses and defenses, whereas Jakob would really only be able to use ot on the defense.

Been thinking about it. I have a potential build for Felix to maximize Midori’s fodder that’s kind of really appealing

This is assuming that I give it to him, of course. I could also adapt this for a Far Save skill, too.
