Pokemon Anime

I was just wondering - maybe not IF, because that might be mandatory :joy: - but WHICH of the Pokemon Anime did you watch?
For me I watched like a lot of first Gen-Anime when I was a kid, since it came in TV just when came home from school.
Later I sporadically watched the Gen 3 Anime (like ā€œPokemon Adventuresā€ and ā€œ~Adventure Battlesā€ I think they were called  ), the Diamond and Pearl Anime and even later the XY for a bit.
From those I can remember Diamond and Pearl the most since I watched this one in chronological order from the start, and because I really enjoyed the game and Anime at that time. D&P is still one of if not my favorite Pokemon Game to date
I came up with this, because when we all started playing Masters together, I started watching the Sun & Moon Anime like 2 days ago. And so far I have to say I really enjoy it - it“s something fresh, because it“s a little different from the rest of the Anime. Team Rocket and the Beware are really funny (like when it walks over water to grab them and such :joy: ).
Also since D&P were my favorite Gen, I really liked it that when Ash fought against the Islandking Hala, they used the D&P Gymleader Battle Music as an opener to the fight - it really gave me goosebumps that time
So yeah which did you watch? and do you maybe have a story to tell, like I just did?

also if you have a better title for this feel free to suggest it or - for regulars - to change it (but no titlewar please

Definitely do that !! The artstyle is something you really have to get used to at first, but thats only in the beginning^^ Also S&M has some really cool animations when pokemon use the Z-Moves or a lot of the times battle in general

Well I do play Pokemon still, and IĀ“m going to play Pokemon Shield once it releases. But havenĀ“t played D&P in a long time…
maybe if I“ve got some free time and don“t know what to do I“ll giv it a try
EDIT: And apparently I canĀ“t type today…

Most likely not. From my perspective it hurts to see that Pikachu can actually win against so many (and usually evolved) opponents, despite it being much weaker in the games. More logically, Pikachu should in fact be losing a lot of the battles where he won, and yes, I am not very impressed by anime logic.

You’ve got good taste OP. DP is also my favorite season of the pokemon anime. Paul is a great rival that actually gets development. You can actually see Ash’s battling skill improve throughout and during the league. Dawn also gets just as much development and contests in this season are much more interesting. The only downside is that Brock doesn’t improve as much, but he does make headway into his pokemon doctor goal so that’s great!

Oh! And also, this is the last season where Ash actually brought back some of his old pokemon to use! That was a great nostalgic episode. I also loved the cameos during the league episodes. Super interesting seeing past characters like his Mom, Oak, Tracy, etc… watching him battle Paul.

I feel somewhat the same way. Third gen was when I started enjoying the game so I played it all the way through, but not that big of a deal, then I played Platinum and that was the best game experience I had in the franchise, even tried learning more about battle mechanics I never cared about before

I just watched mostly Ruby/Sapphire and a bit of OG PokĆØmon as well.

Did I watch more?
I don’t think so

While a lot of the anime/movies logics are frail, one that I enjoy quite a lot is that most PokĆ©mon can become strong in these medias. I don’t really care about Pikachu being super strong there, I actually hate how the developers force Pikachu as a good PokĆ©mon in any way in the games because it never really is.

But I do enjoy when certain PokƩmon without much use in the games find a way to become strong in the anime/movies, it kinda makes you feel like any PokƩmon there can be made strong in the right hands, I see that as good

When I think about DP I tend to think that… I guess everyone always disliked Paul for his actions towards Pokemon such as choosing only the ones with higher potential for battles all the time, but he was basically doing things that probably most players usually do in PokĆ©mon games where we get to choose what we want to keep

Paul was pretty much anime Silver. I haven’t seen anyone really hate Paul. I mean I’ve seen people dislike him for his general attitude in the beginning but that’s what the writers wanted you to feel towards him. At the end, of his league battle with Ash he is definitely a changed person. I think the general opinion towards him is positive.

I watch pokemon anime as a kid: kanto and johto series. But as I grow older i stop watch it, because it is make for kids, and dont have any content for adoults. Dont talking about sex/gore, but like some cartoons/anime there is something for kids, and parents. There is no character develepment. Ash always being idiot kid, who always lose in the end. And it cycles over and over with the same formula every episode.
I saw few episodes from X and Y series. There ware some nice fight animations that I enjoy. Also pokemon orgins was joy to watch, because competent protagonist.

Paul actually is one of the best if not the best rival to date, just because you can somewhat relate to him and follow his actions - sometimes even feel why he did it like this. I remember especially this episode where Paul battles against Cynthia and Garchomp. It stuck to my mead for whatever reason

Nice :+1: at least you watched some of it

I saw some of the Gen 1 anime, that’s my history with anime as a whole. Really gotta get back and finish it.
