In Geneology of the Holy War, after Altena finds out that Travant had killed her parents and was not his real daughter, Travant heads into battle against Seliph’s army. Before he does so, he gives his son, Arion, the lance Gungnir, and he wields a Silver Lance instead.
I don’t know if this was ever addressed when Travant was released, but I’d figure I’d throw it out there.

I just found this out recently, so I’m in on the dissapointment
Oh look, something that was already explained. 
Travant still has no reason to exist. He’s outclassed in every way by a unit that was released at the exact same time.

Him having a Silver Lance still kinda sucks for him though. No prf to make him stand out, and he doesn’t have too many good skills as well.
Altena demoting was the final nail in the coffin. 
Yeah, it just sucks. And considering the fact that Travant could have Gungnir with Arion if Quan can have Gae Bolg like Altena.
On the bright side, Arion may come with Gungnir
I built him up anyway.
