The "Should I play Imaginary Scramble if I haven't played LB4" thread

What it says on the tin.

As we all know, Imaginary Scramble will start in a few weeks or so, and requires LB1 completion in order to participate. It also features story spoilers up to LB4, which is fun. :catlie: The purpose of this thread is to evaluate the magnitude of possible spoilers in IS and be a tool for players to decide if they want to rush the story in the coming weeks.

I’m starting this thread because I have a friend who started playing ~a month ago so their account is very new. However, they have managed to make their way to LB2 already (:catclap:), but are now having trouble. They said that they’ll probably take a break from story to level their roster, but I’m wondering if I should tell them to rush the story even if they might not have fun doing it. :catlie: I have played the story myself, but my memory is Not Very Good so I have absolutely no recollection of which spoilers happen where and how significant they are. :fgo_musashipain:

So yeah. Which spoilers happen in which LB and how spoilery is IS?

I’d assume the spoilers are in relation to “The Captain” and his ship, since those developments happened during LB4. The latter was already spoiled by the promo banner that literally says the ship’s name, and that itself tells you who the Captain is if you know your classic adventure stories. I assume basically nothing else from LB4 is relevant given that the other main theme of IS is the Foreigner class.

The Captain has also obviously been a playable common pool servant that anyone can see on JP for nearly two years with no effort made to conceal his identity at all. The only real consideration they’ve ever made with him is that he’s not on the 6th anniversary SSR ticket. Otherwise his identity will be out in the open forever in two weeks or less, so enjoy being able to pretend he’s a spoiler.

I they don’t want to be spoiled, they could always skip all the story in IS and rewatch it after they have cleared LB4. And the event does not have a rerun yet so they might as well play it even if they have not been catching up with the story. So even if someone is just at LB1, I think they should play the event nonetheless.

This is what I was thinking, at least then it will be in their past event records.

This is a canon event I believe? Therefore we can expect a rerun and a main interlude in the future.

However I agree with @Alacrity, just skip past the story and reread later. No sense in missing out on rewards and whatnot.

Just skip everything like I did.

Skipping is bad!

They will tell captain’s identitty probably. Feel free to skip or rush lostbelts

it’s not a probably, he’s going to be on rateup. you’ll see him and his name when you go to do your daily fp summon.

People could just do LB4. Plenty of time to get caught up if they are story slackers.

Only those who started playing FGO right before or during the event should even have to consider this question.

I’ll be real if the one spoiler for LB4 is the Captain’s identity then it’s not an LB4 spoiler it’s a prologue for LB3 spoiler. As soon as he’s introduced his identity is obvious provided you even know of the character in the first place. I really don’t want to sound like a know it all but it really is all but spelled out by Sion as soon as he makes an appearance thanks to his qualifications as a Phantasmal Spirit like the ones in Shinjuku and being a Rider because of a submarine.

I didn’t even read the book he’s from, I watched a movie where he was a side character and I got it. So if you’re familiar with the character that’s all the farther you need to read to get who he is. If you’re not then his identity will just be another case of “who?”

To be fair, the OP said their friend was struggling with LB2, so clearing LB4 is probably unlikely.

If clearing is the concern, they should be able to borrow friend support to do the job. The actual roster investment required to clear is pretty minimal, especially if we assume occasional use of CS to salvage things.

Yeah you could do that, but reading multiple LB stories in only a few days is tough.

I’d prefer not telling said friend to skip story to avoid spoilers if it’s not completely necessary. :/ I want them to have a good time and they seem to be enjoying the story. But it’s also true that if they don’t play now they won’t be able to complete the event until god knows when.

I’m starting to suspect they might complete LB4 anyways at the pace they’re going - they just completed LB2. :ferdbirb:

If he is struggling with LB2 than that’s an issue because Imaginary Scramble requires LB2 completion.

Edit: nvm

Oh my god he is… some dude!

There’s that skip button and imaginary scramble has no rerun. Do the event.

That’s how I feel about most of the Asian servants when revealed… Western history classes don’t do justice to non western history

Yeah, it’s difficult for this person because they are new and would need to cram story.

On the other hand, this event won’t be back for a long time. At this rate, it’s very possible that it will skip the rerun and go right to Main Interlude. Tough call.

If they really enjoy the story and have time to play, getting through three LBs in a week may not be too bad.
