I literally recruited everyone. Why is Ash still there fighting me?
I spent so much time making sure that I got everyone before the split and he was one of the firsts that I got. I am very confused right now.

Even if you recruit them,they will be against you.
You just have to recruit them back.

I don’t know if you HAVE to use Byleth,but just ‘‘kill’’ them on the map they’re on,and a dialogue box should pop up giving you the option to ‘‘kill’’ or ‘‘recruit’’.

Well,it DID happen to me,and Black Eagles was my very first route,where I recruited no one,not even the teachers.
And I had Lysithea with me at the end of the game.

Then it must have to be Byleth or maybe the lord of the run. My first play through but Lysithea and Lorenz where killed as they were against me but I had no option to recruit.
